Summary

A large 18th century house, dated 1787, with simple classical architectural details. The house was built for a solicitor from Aylsham, and has also been used as a school.

Great House, recently in use as Burebank College.
Date 1787 on west gable rainhead. Red brick, tile. Three storeys, five by two bays. South façade symmetrical; sash windows, central Doric doorcase. Stone capped plinth and platband, Modillion cornice with reeded fascia. Two symmetrical stacks. North front similar but more simple. Interior has bolection moulded panelling and fireplaces, one of which has Ionic columns.

(S2) states this was built for Mr Holly, a solicitor of Aylsham.
(S3) in file which show a stack with irregular skintlings, halfway between diagonal and horizontal, interesting for the date.

September 2008.
Built at a cost of £5000 in 1787 in grounds of around 16 acres. Built much as a miniture version of Wolterton Hall. Bought by Lady Suffield in 1839. A set of water gardens were created to the south and an ornamental wood to the north.
