Summary

A group of fragmentary, linear and rectilinear ditches of unknown date is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. Their alignment and general appearance suggest that they may be a continuation of the medieval and post medieval trackways mapped 190m to the southeast (NHER 27263).

Map

March 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A group of fragmentary linear and rectilinear ditches is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1) to (S3), centred at TG 4835 1523. The orientation of the ditches suggests that they form part of the same complex of field boundaries and trackways as NHER 27263, 190m to the southeast. A medieval date for both sites is plausible, although post medieval elements may also be present. They appear to represent tracks and fields on the periphery of the former core of medieval settlement surrounding St Peter’s Church (NHER 18320).
S. Tremlett (NMP), 2 March 2005.
