Summary

A group of three linear ditch cropmarks of unknown date is visible on aerial photographs. It is possible that they represent the fragmentary remains of field boundaries. Another small group of ditches sharing a similar alignment is located mapped 370m to the east (NHER 27268). These may be medieval in date, but this is not certain.

Map

March 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A group of three linear ditch cropmarks of unknown date is visible on aerial photographs (S1). It is possible that they represent the fragmentary remains of field boundaries. Another small group of ditches sharing a similar alignment is located mapped 370m to the east (NHER 27268). It is possible that they are part of the same system, although both sites are too fragmentary to be sure of any relationships. These cropmarks to the east may be medieval in date, although this is not certain. It must be noted that the archaeological origin of these features is not definite and they may relate to agricultural drains. The cropmarks are centred on TG 4020 2918. The ditches vary in length from 20m to 60m. The two longer ditches share the same alignment, with the third being roughly perpendicular.
