Full Description
April 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A group of concrete bases or platforms is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946, along the rear of the dunes at Eccles-on-Sea. The site is centred on TG 4079 2916 and consists of a rectangular concrete platform, 5m by 4m, and three small circular, possibly concrete, features, ranging in diameter from 0.75-2m. It is possible that these concrete bases are the remains of World War Two defences structures that have since been removed. Although this is not definite as the possible structures are located to the immediate south of a row of beach chalets and therefore the features could be associated with one of the properties. No earlier aerial photographs show the area clearly enough to provide any additional aerial photograph evidence on the presence of any military structures. There are other possible military structures in close vicinity (NHER 27326-7).
