Map

May-November 2004. Norfolk Rapid Coastal Zone Archaeological Survey.
Inter-tidal survey (Environmental Zone 11), Context 851:
A rectangular pit was recorded on the sloping eastern bank of Freshes Creek. With a concrete and brick lining, it would have been used for storing shellfish.
See assessment report (S1) for further details.
The associated archive has been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2017.421).
J. Allen (NLA), 20 April 2005. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 21 July 2019.

The concrete lining suggests a modern date for the storage pit. However, this may be a modern relining of an older, possibly post-medieval, feature.
It is not shown on the Morston tithe map (S2) nor the First Edition 6 inch Ordnance Survey map (S3).
D. Robertson (NLA), 28 June 2006.
