Full Description
May-November 2004. Norfolk Rapid Coastal Zone Archaeological Survey.
Inter-tidal survey (Environmental Zone 26), Context 563:
Eleven landing stages (all composed of upright posts, horizontal planks and triangular shaped in plan) were found.
See assessment report (S1) for further details.
The associated archive has been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2017.421).
J. Allen (NLA), 27 April 2005. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 21 July 2019.
May 2006. Norfolk NMP.
The landing stages described above probably equate to the relatively intact structures visible on aerial photographs, including some taken in 1965 (S2). They may also be the same as the dolphins (mooring posts or bollards) depicted on modern Ordnance Survey 1 to 2500 maps. As they appear to be modern in date, they have not been mapped by the NMP.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 16 May 2006.
