A ring ditch is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1) and (S2), centred at TG 4837 1647. It is most likely to be the site of a Bronze Age round barrow, part of barrow cemetery NHER 27342. It is roughly circular in shape and measures approximately 26m in diameter. A break on its southern side is as likely to be caused by the cropmark being masked as by the presence of a causeway. The ring ditch appears to be respected by the linear ditches (also visible as cropmarks) which surround it. These form part of a field system of probable Bronze Age date (NHER 27338), presumably dating to later in the Bronze Age than the barrow cemetery. This close association means that the less likely possibility that the ring ditch represents a domestic or agricultural enclosure contemporary with the field system cannot be ruled out.
