February-March 2005. Metal-detecting. In north part of field.
2 Roman coins and 2 pottery sherds (?Nar valley).
1 medieval horse harness fitting fragment (gilt).
Pottery identified by A. Rogerson (NLA), coins by A. Marsden (NLA) and other object by S. Ashley (NLA). See list in file.
The signification of the medieval horse harness fitting is discussed in published article (S1), along with one from Edgefield that displays the same combination of 'proto-armorial Orientalising motifs' (see NHER 50293).
