Full Description
May 2005. Norfolk NMP.
Two (or possibly four) World War Two surface air raid shelters are visible on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), centred at TG 5270 0657. They lay to the north of St James’ Church and may have been used by its clergy and perhaps part of its congregation. Alternatively, they might have been public shelters. Whether the visible structures represent two shelters or four rectangular shelters erected side by side to form two blocks is not clear. They were removed by August 1945 (S3), when the impression left by their bases was still visible.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 20 May 2005.
