Map

Listed as 'Two cottages 150m southeast of North farmhouse'.
Described as dating to around 1700, rendered clay lump, pantiles. Two storeys and attic. Two symmetrical doors, one in line with chimneystack, Three windows on two floors, lower ones with dripmoulds. Reconstructed bell-based roof with timber cornice. Original three-light leaded gable window to north. Crosswing to rear. See (S1).
However, true clay lump was not invented until around 1800. (S2) in file shows a three cell plan with spine beams; two doors opposite each other (one now blocked) with offcentre door in adjacent wall. This looks very like a cross passage plan house of the 16th/17th century.

October 2008. Building survey.
The house was originally built as a 1 1/2 storey tripartite house of hall and service rooms with a large parlour in the first half of the sixteenth-century. It had unglazed diamond mullion windows with shutters and possibly a timber-framed chimney. Major alterations took place in the early seventeenth-century; the chimney was replaced in brick and a lobby entrance was created. It is likely that the south bay was added at a later date.
