Map

June 2005. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated ditches, possibly representing field boundaries and a trackway, are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are located at TG 5010 1150 immediately to the south of Back Lane. Three ditches are present as cropmarks on a parallel northwest to southeast alignment with a further two running perpendicular to these. It is possible that these form an incomplete enclosure or field that is cut by Back Lane to the north. The visible extent of the possible field measures 40m square. Two parallel ditches along the southwest side of the field, which are spaced 3.5m apart, could define a narrow trackway. Although the date of these cropmarks is uncertain, Back Lane is shown as a track on Faden’s 1797 map of the county (S2), suggesting that they are earlier than late post medieval in date. Ditches in the western part of the group have been built over since 1970 (S3).
