World War Two slit trenches and barbed wire defences are visible on contemporary aerial photographs (S1 to S2). These defences were located at TG 5168 1351. A short curved slit trench and associated bank was present on the east side of Ormesby Road. A second curved trench was present 35m to its north. A curved length of barbed wire defence stretched between the two slit trenches. These defences were place by February 1941 (S1) and were still visible in September 1945 (S2). The area had been built over by 1965 (S3).
