Summary

A probable World War Two air raid shelter is visible as a structure on aerial photographs. Its shape, small size and location in what appears to be the garden of a private house suggest that it is an Anderson shelter, or a similar design intended for the use of a single family or household. The site has been built over since the end of the war.

Map

July 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A probable World War Two air raid shelter is visible as a surface or possible semi-sunken structure on aerial photographs (S1), centred at approximately TG 5211 0836. It appears to have a curved profile and seems most likely to be an Anderson shelter. It is possibly earth covered but appears relatively 'clean' compared to similar structures mapped elsewhere at Great Yarmouth (compare NHER 27450, for example). The site is now occupied by a post war building.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 20 July 2005.
