Summary

Fieldwalking in 2005 and metal-detecting between 2021 and 2022 recovered undatable prehistoric, potentially Mesolithic, Early Neolithic, Neolithic and Neolithic to Bronze Age worked flints; Roman, possible Middle Saxon, Late Saxon, medieval, medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; a post medieval roof tile; a piece of undated iron slag, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval jetton and several other metal objects, including Middle/Late Saxon strap ends; a Late Saxon/medieval disc brooch; a medieval lead ampulla likely to have come from Bromholm Priory (NHER 1073); a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragment and a post-medieval decorative hinge fitting.

2 Neolithic flint end scrapers and 1 end and side scraper.
10 prehistoric flint flakes.
1 Roman pottery sherd.
5 ?Roman pottery sherds.
2 ?Middle Saxon pottery sherds.
1 Late Saxon pottery sherds.
8 medieval pottery sherds.
18 post-medieval pottery sherds, 1 roof tile fragment and 1 gunflint.

Medieval lead ampulla of unusual sub-rectangular form decorated with double-armed cross likely to represent the Holy Rood of Bromholm (S2).
