Map

August 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A group of World War Two air raid shelters is visible as a cluster of earth and vegetation covered structures on aerial photographs (S1), centred at TG 5244 0739. The shelters, which are probably semi sunken, appear to have a curved or parabolic profile. The westernmost stands on its own; to its east a block of four shelters erected side by side can be seen. Entrances are visible at the northwestern ends of all the structures. Shelters of this size and type were probably used by local residents, but may also have been used by those working for businesses in the area. There may be further shelters in the immediate vicinity but the consulted aerial photographs are not clear enough to be certain. More recent aerial photographs and modern maps indicate that the site has been levelled since the end of the war, and is now occupied by a modern building and a car park.
