Full Description
August 2005. Casual Observation.
Large scatter of worked flints identified by [1] while out walking. Located on area of exposed sandy soils on 10m contour overlooking Little Ouse.
The assemblage included an "extraordinarily high" proportion of cores, mainly small. Also flakes, some quite large. All from well produced flake industry. Probably Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age. No finished tools or pottery seen in rapid transect across site.
The extent of this scatter was not determined, although it appeared to extend a short way along the path to the south-west of the fenced plantation (into the area of NHER 5719).
See (S1) and (S2) in file.
J. Allen (NLA) 31 August 2005. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 4 July 2013.
6 September 2006. Stray Find.
Noted whilst walking dog:
Scatters of worked flints, including flakes, blades, cores, scrapers, hammerstones and a rough-out axe.
See photograph in file (S3).
D. Gurney (NLA), 13 September 2006.
