Location

Civil Parish DISS, SOUTH NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

Air raid shelter of standard type constructed of Central of Whittlesea bricks.
Oblong, about 4m x 2m, door in west side at south end; L shaped interior; escape hatch in concrete of at north end.
What makes this unusual is a gabled roof of wood and pantiles; boarded gable to south, open to north.
This would have made escape through the hatch awkward, but not impossible.
Probably a post-war decoration.
See (S1) in file.
E. Rose (NLA), 7 June 2005.
