Summary

A possible World War Two pillbox or gun emplacement is visible on aerial photographs, dug into the dunes at Sea Palling. This structure would have defended the approach from the beach onto Beach Road, which would have also been blocked by anti-tank cubes, see NHER 27295. Other World War Two coastal defences were recorded within this area (NHER 27294, 27297 to 27300).

Map

September 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A possible World War Two pillbox or gun emplacement is visible on aerial photographs, dug into the dunes at Sea Palling (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 4303 2742. This structure would have defended the approach from the beach onto Beach Road, which would have also been blocked by anti-tank cubes, see NHER 27295. Other World War Two coastal defences were recorded within this area (NHER 27294, 27297 to 27300).

The entire structure is quite hard to see due to it being dug into the dunes, however it appears to be square in shape and approximately 2.5m across.
