Full Description
September 2005. Norfolk NMP.
An area of possible World War Two concrete structures may be visible on aerial photographs, just behind the dunes at Waxham in 1940 (S1). These may relate to either the working, or even building, of the many pillboxes within this area, NHER 16793, 27307, 32641.
The structures are partially obscured from view by the dunes and therefore very little detail of them can be seen. These may be actual structures or defences or possibly even debris from the construction of the various pillboxes in this area. The features have only been mapped using an ‘extent of area’ polygon centred on TG 4411 2646. One more obvious structure is visible and has been mapped at approximately TG 4412 2645. Nothing substantial is visible as remaining in 1946 (S2), other than one possible area of concrete.
S. Massey (NMP), 29 September 2005.
