Map

October 2005. Norfolk NMP.
An earthwork of a ditch of probable medieval to post medieval date is visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2). This earthwork is located at TG 4868 1143 to the northwest Mautby Hall. The ditch is L-shaped in plan and cuts off one corner of a modern field. It extends for 37m from TG 4865 1140 to TG 4868 1141 before turning north for a further 55m to TG 4869 1147. This ditch corresponds to a boundary shown on the 1839 Mautby tithe map and is likely to be of medieval or post medieval date. Although it may have served solely as a field boundary, its position indicates that it may also have had a drainage function.
