Map

October 2005. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated, possibly post medieval linear ditches and pits are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S4). These cropmarks are centred on TG 4926 1159. A total of 18 sections of linear ditch cropmark are present within this group. Six of these are aligned northwest to southeast or southwest to northeast. Two of these ditches in the north of the group at TG 4930 1170 form a T-junction. It is likely that they are field boundaries and their alignment corresponds to the pattern of drainage ditches 180m to the east. Cutting across these ditches is a group of roughly west to east and north to south aligned ditches. The alignment of these relates to a surviving north to south field boundary that cuts through the group. It is likely that both groups of ditches are field boundaries representing different phases of post medieval activity. Located within this group of cropmarks are three large pits with irregular plans. These range in size up to 33m by 26m and are likely to be extraction pits of unknown date or function.
