Full Description
May 2003. Norfolk NMP.
Group of parallel linear banks visible on Ordnance Survey aerial photographs from 1969 (S1). The main group of banks run from approximately TG 1301 4089 to TG 1311 4083. There appears to be four banks in fragmentary state. Although some of the breaks in the mapped banks are due to vegetation and shadow obscuring them from view. The banks vary in length from 14m to 90m and they are all 2.5 to 3.5m wide. Another set of parallel banks and ditches run from TG 1312 4091 to TG 1318 4086, although these are much narrower and closer set. It is possible that all of these closely set banks with slight furrows in-between are remains of ridge and furrow or similar agricultural practices of a possible medieval date.
S. Massey (NMP), 15 May 2003.
