Map

November 2003. Norfolk NMP.
Two earthwork pits on Muckleburgh Hill on RAF aerial photographs from 1946 (S1) and 1950 (S2). These are elongated in construction and would indicate that they are one or two man slit trenches, or weapons pits, probably constructed as part of training exercises during World War Two. One pit is located at TG 1012 4304 and measures approximately 3m by 1.5m, although the eastern end extends to a width of 2.5m. The western pit is centred on TG 1010 4304 and is roughly rectangular and measures 3.5m by 1.5m. These are positioned to the immediate south of one of the tracks running across the hill. They appear to be similar structures to NHER 38360 to the west.
S. Massey (NMP), 17 November 2003.
