Full Description
November 2003. Norfolk NMP.
World War Two slit trench and weapons pits on Kelling Heath are visible on RAF aerial photographs from 1946 (S1) and 1950 (S2). The trench runs from TG 1023 4238 to TG 1026 4239, measuring 38m long and 1m wide. The rest of the site consists of dispersed groups of pits and small slit trenches. There are several larger pits, all 3-4m across, at TG 1026 4240, TG 1026 4235 and TG 1033 42432. The remaining pits are centred on TG 1031 4240 and TG 1031 4233 and an alignment of three running from TG 1024 4240 to TG 1024 4239. The weapons pits are generally around 2-3m by 1m, with one larger elongated trench 4m by 1m.
