Summary

An inter tidal structure present in Breydon Water is visible on aerial photographs. This may be a fish trap or a revetment used to stabilise the mud flats to its east. It is only clearly visible on aerial photographs dating to June and July 1946 and it is not known if any part of it still exists.

Map

November 2005. Norfolk NMP.
An inter tidal structure present in Breydon Water is visible on aerial photographs (S1) and (S2). This structure is centred on TG 4980 0764. A curvilinear structure extends for 317m on a north northwest to south southeast alignment between TG 4974 0779 and TG 4985 0749. This is probably a timber structure but it is not possible to determine its construction. It is possible that it is part of a fish trap or possibly some type of revetment to stabilise the mud flats to its east. It is only clearly visible on aerial photographs dating to June and July 1946 (S1) and (S2) and it is not known if any of it survived after that date. It was not observed during the Norfolk Rapid Coastal Survey.
J. Albone (NMP), 22 November 2005.
