Full Description
December 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A World War Two gun emplacement is visible on aerial photographs located alongside Church Lane, Bradwell (S1). The site is centred on TG 5066 0390. In March 1944 a temporary gun emplacement site may be indicated from a circular structure visible on the aerial photographs. This has the appearance of a central structure surrounded by an area of either upcast material or sandbags. It is very light in appearance like concrete, but the shape seems too uneven for it to be an actual concrete gun base. The fact that it is no longer visible in July 1944 (S2) also suggests that it was a temporary construction and probably sandbags or earth.
S. Massey (NMP), 19 December 2005.
