Map

December 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A possible World War Two military building is visible on aerial photographs (S1-S3). It is located at TG 4846 0523 south of and parallel to High Road at Burgh Castle. It has a rectangular plan measuring 30m by 6m and a pitched roof. An oblique shows that it had at least 14 windows on its south side (S3). It is similar to long rectangular huts present on military sites and may have a World War Two military origin. It was present in October 1945 (S1) but no other adjacent structures were visible at that date. This building is located approximately half way between an anti-aircraft gun battery (NHER 34546) and a searchlight battery (NHER 34545) and may be associated with either or both of those installations. However, it is possible that this building had an entirely civilian non-World War Two function. It is not known if this building is still extant.
