Map

December 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A World War Two air raid shelter is visible on aerial photographs within the back garden of 12 Avenue Road, Gorleston (S1). The shelter, probably an Anderson shelter, would have been for the use of the family living in the property. The shelter is centred on TG 5258 0498 and consists of a rectangular structure, measuring 2.5m by 1.5m. Most shelters of this type in the area are covered with an earth mound, however the texture and colour of this shelter suggests that it is uncovered. A slight earthwork is visible around the south side.
S. Massey (NMP), 21 December 2005.
