Summary

A group of World War Two air raid shelters is visible on aerial photographs within the back gardens of Baliol Road, Gorleston. These shelters are visible as earth covered mounds, probably Anderson shelters, and would have been for the use of families living in the properties.

A group of World War Two air raid shelters is visible on aerial photographs within the back gardens of Baliol Road, Gorleston. These shelters are visible as earth covered mounds, probably Anderson shelters, and would have been for the use of families living in the properties. The site is centred on TG 5230 0424, although this point does not correspond with an archaeological feature on the ground.

The majority of the shelters are all approximately 3m by 2m and are located within the gardens of numbers 12, 21, 23, 25, 40, 42, 52, 53, 56, 60, 69, 71, 73 and 79.
