Listing Description:
18th century house, enlarged and remodelled in the early 19th century, altered and extended in the late 19th century and extended again in the 20th. Flemish bond red brick with a Welsh slate roof with gabled ends and wooden modillion eaves cornice. Brick axial and gable end stacks with yellow clay pots. Plan and development: The original circa 18th century house was a single depth 2-room plan arrangement which now occupies the centre room (hall) and right hand dining room of the present house. In the early 19th century the house was substantially enlarged (and refaced) by the addition of another principal room at the left end with a large bedchamber above; the left hand room of the original house becoming the central entrance hall with a staircase at the back and a large 2-storey outhut was built at the rear for the service rooms, the kitchen to the right. It was probably in the later 19th century that the left hand rear rooms were extended by the addition of bays at the back and the pantry and scullery were rehoused in a single storey outshut on the right hand side. Attached to the front (south) of the side outshut there is a Second World War air raid shelter. In the late 20th century a conservatory was added to the left of the front of the house.
