Summary

An early 17th-century shop incorporating parts of a 16th-century wall from the adjacent Carmelite Friary (see NHER 4306). The shop was remodelled in the late 19th century, and has an early 20th-century plate glass shop front.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Shop. Early 17th century incorporating an earlier wall, remodelled late 19th century when façade added. Two storeys; two-window range. Whitewashed brick under a pantiled (front) and partly plain-tiled (rear) roof. Early 20th-century plate-glass shop front under a projecting fascia board...Timber eaves cornice and a gabled roof. South return has coursed flint and bricks. Rear wall of early 16th-century date, belonging to the Carmelite Friary sited here: flint and brick...Gabled roof with a gabled dormer.
INTERIOR: 17th-century bridging beam in cellar. Blocked steps up to former yard at rear. First floor with false timber framing. Roof with five bays of early 17th-century upper crucks, principals, cambered collars and two tiers of butt purlins."
