Map

No mapped location recorded.

This planned medieval town was founded when the construction of Castle Rising Castle (NHER 3307) by William d'Aubigny forced the relocation of the church and village in the 1130s. The general layout of the present village implies that it may be a rectilinear plantation but other evidence is lacking.
