A World War Two slit trench is visible on aerial photographs from 1941 of Quay Road, South Pier, Gorleston (S1). The trench is centred on TG 5307 0362 and is 12m long and zigzag in plan. This trench would have formed part of harbour and quayside defences. It had been infilled by July 1944 (S2).
