A World War Two spigot mortar emplacement is visible on aerial photographs on Pavilion Road, West Quay, Gorleston (S1 and S2). This gun emplacement would have formed part of the harbour and quayside defences and is centred on TG 5294 0378. The spigot mortar emplacement consisted of a circular spigot within a circular pit, surrounded by a wide low bank of upcast material This gun emplacement is not constructed by February 1941 (S3). The emplacement is still visible in 1947 (S4), however it has been removed by 1952 (S5).
