Summary

A pair of World War Two air raid shelters is visible on aerial photographs associated with a series of industrial or agricultural buildings, adjacent to the railway line running through Gorleston. The shelters are visible as earth covered mounds, one of which either incorporates or is built against an existing structure.

A pair of World War Two air raid shelters is visible on aerial photographs associated with a series of industrial or agricultural buildings adjacent to the railway line running through Gorleston (S1). The site is centred on TG 5240 0357. The shelters are visible as earth covered mounds, the largest and northern mound measures 16m by 7.5m, with an entrance to the west. The southern shelter consists of a mound 6m by 4m and either incorporates or is built against an existing structure. The function of the buildings is not known, it is possible given the location that they are associated with the railway.
