Summary

A pair of World War Two air raid shelters is visible on aerial photographs within back gardens of 148 and 150 Bell’s Road, Gorleston. These shelters are visible as earth covered mounds, probably Anderson shelters, and these would have been for the use of the families living in the properties.

A pair of World War Two air raid shelters is visible on aerial photographs within back gardens of 148 and 150 Bell’s Road, Gorleston (S1). These shelters are visible as earthen mounds, probably covering Anderson shelters, and these would have been for the use of the families living in the properties. The site is centred on TG 5270 0358. The shelter within the garden of number 148 is 5m by 3m and has an entrance to the east and a rectangular hatch or vent on the roof. The shelter in the adjacent garden is approximately 3m square and has no external features.
