Pre 1968. ?Stray Find.
1 Palaeolithic hand-axe marked 'Buckingham' (Didlington), held by the Cambridge University of Archaeology and Anthropology (1924.1021). Listed in (S1). Information from (S2).
Described by Wymer on (S3) and in (S4) as a fragment of an ovate handaxe. Also listed in (S5) and (S6).
The location of this find is uncertain, particularly as Buckingham is not a place or hamlet within Didlington parish. As noted in (S5), it is possible that the name refers to a specific gravel pit. It should however be noted that the museum's records indicate that this was from Buckinghamshire, although this is probably just their interpretation of "Buckingham".
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 30 April 2013.
