Summary

A World War Two air raid shelter is visible on aerial photographs within the garden of a house formerly on Lowestoft Road, Hopton-On-Sea. This shelter is visible as an earthen mound, probably covering an Anderson shelter, and this would have been for the use of the family living in the property. The area has been redeveloped since the 1940s and the location of the former shelter is now within the garden of 4 Imperial Mews.

A World War Two air raid shelter is visible on aerial photographs within the garden of a house formerly on Lowestoft Road, Hopton-On-Sea (S1). This shelter is visible as an earthen mound, measuring 3m by 2.5m, with an earthen blast wall protected entrance and this is probably covering an Anderson shelter. This shelter would have been for the use of the family living in the property. The area has been redeveloped since the 1940’s and the location of the former shelter is now within the garden of number 4 Imperial Mews. The site is centred on TM 5241 9998.
