Summary

Metal detecting in 2004 recovered a broken fragment of cast lead with pronounced angular ridges and lines alternating with deep-set grooves. The object is of uncertain date but a possible parallel is a silver-gilt disc brooch of Scandinavian type from Whitton, North Lincolnshire.

Broken fragment of cast lead with pronounced angular ridges and lines alternating with deep-set grooved. It has a flat reverse side and was originally probably circular in shape, about one-third of the piece now remaining. The object is of uncertain date but a possible parallel is a silver-gilt disc brooch of Scandinavian type from Whitton, North Lincolnshire, illustrated in (S1).
