Map

April 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks reveal a rectangular enclosure, visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1). 11m wide and at least 22m long. The feature is showing as a parched or negative cropmark, up to 1.5m wide. This may be the response over a bank, however the clarity of the lines would suggest the walls and foundations of a building. It is possible that this is an agricultural building of post medieval date. However it is quite near to area of limekilns marked on the 1902-7 2nd edition map (S2), which has some associated structures. This building may be related to the limekiln industry, the limehouse shelter for the burners.
S. Massey (NMP), 18 April 2002.
