Summary

Clay walled structures, fragments of Roman tile and pottery and briquetage found on the beach in 2006 indicate a possible salt extraction site. Romano-British pottery was recovered in the same year from clay exposed by the scouring of sand.

Early 2006. Winterton beach to the south of the Roman inhumation NHER 41181.
Clay walled structures and burnt areas, possibly salterns. Finds of animal bone and pottery, probably Roman. Further identification to come.
