Map

March 2006. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of three incomplete rectilinear enclosures of possible Roman date are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These enclosures are centred on TF 7405 3890. Parts of three incomplete enclosures are present on a roughly northwest to southeast alignment. All three of the enclosures are cut on their southwest side by the Ringstead to Docking road. The middle enclosure is the most complete. It has a sub-rectangular or trapezoidal plan and measures 118m by at least 74m. A gap in the ditch on its northern side may be a deliberate entrance. The other two enclosures measure at least 138m by 49m and 71m by 79m, but are too incomplete for their plan to be determined. This group of enclosures is crossed by the line of a medieval to post medieval road (NHER 1590) and undated parallel curvilinear ditches (NHER 43316). No finds are associated with these cropmarks but it is possible that they are of Roman date.
