Full Description
March 2006. Norfolk NMP.
A flat-roofed, rectangular structure or building is visible on aerial photographs (S1)-(S3), centred at TG 5296 0656. It was located within what was then the garden of Telegraph House (NHER 24345), and could have been associated with the use of this building by military personnel or for civil defence. Several of the buildings in this area of the town seem to have been used for such purposes: compare NHER 43374 150m to the north for example. Alternatively, the structure might have been used as an air raid shelter by those living or working at the house. It appears to have been under construction in March 1944 (S1), and remained standing for some years after the end of the war (S3). The area has since been built over (it is now occupied by Seafield Close) and no trace of the hut is visible on recent consulted aerial photographs of the site.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 10 March 2006.
