Map

March 2006. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of parallel linear and curvilinear ditches of unknown date are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TF 7376 3841. Four linear and curvilinear ditch cropmarks are present close to the northern edge of a modern field. One of these forms an L-shape with a curved corner. This may form an enclosure, measuring at least 80m by 29m, which lies on the same west to east alignment as the field boundary. A second ditch is aligned parallel to its southern side, possibly defining a narrow trackway. A possible continuation of this ditch further to the east joins one of two parallel ditches on a southwest to northeast alignment. The fragmentary nature of these cropmarks makes definite identification of their form difficult. The alignment of the western ditches, parallel the modern field boundary, may indicate that they have a post medieval date. However, Roman pottery has been found in this field (NHER 41767) and it is possible that the cropmarks could date from that period.
