Full Description
September 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A World War Two type 22 pillbox is visible on aerial photographs on Beach Road, Lessingham (S1-S2). A similarly positioned pillbox was located on Church Lane, 600m to the west (NHER 32639). These pillboxes would have defended the inland approach from the coast in the event of an invasion.
This pillbox is centred on TG 4093 2871 and is hexagonal and 5m across. The pillbox is demolished in-between 1952 and 1955.
S. Massey (NMP), 13 September 2005.
