Full Description
March 2006. Norfolk NMP.
Earthworks of linear banks of medieval to post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These earthworks are centred on TF 7163 3598. Two sections of linear bank earthwork are present within parkland surrounding Sedgeford Hall. The longest bank has a roughly south to north alignment and extends for 115m between TF 7162 3588 to TF 7163 3600. This earthwork corresponds to a boundary marked on the Sedgeford tithe map (S2) and possibly also a 1631 estate map of Sedgeford (S3). The northern section of ditch extends for 38m on a roughly southwest to northeast alignment between TF 7165 3603 and TF 7166 3606. This bank also appears to relate to a field boundary marked on the 1631 map (S3). It is likely that both of these banks are field boundaries and that they are of medieval to post medieval date.
