Summary

Metal-detecting between 2003 and 2018 recovered a single sherd of Roman pottery; Roman and medieval to post-medieval coins; post-medieval tokens and a medieval harness pendant and lead seal matrices. A systematic fieldwalking and metal-detecting survey of part of this field in 2008 recovered finds of almost exclusively post-medieval date including pottery sherds, roof tiles and a number of metal items. A single sherd of medieval pottery was the only earlier find.

Full Description

April/May 2003. Metal-detecting.
Examination of very large field containing NHER 3242 and 36778.
Has not yet produced any significant finds apart from one moderately abraded sherd of Roman greyware pottery (found at [1]).

March-April 2008. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey on proposed route of Sheringham Shoals Offshore Windfarm Grid Connection (Fields 33 and 35).
Finds recovered included:
1 medieval pottery sherd.
4 post-medieval pottery sherds, 1 pantile, 1 glass bottle fragment, 1 shoe buckle, 1 hook fastening, 1 cabinet hinge, 1 copper alloy cast vessel foot, 3 copper alloy buttons, 1 copper alloy unidentified object.
1 ?post-medieval roof tile.
