Summary

Metal-detecting between 2006 and 2016 recovered a number of prehistoric worked flints, including a Mesolithic blade; a Neolithic pick and flakes and Neolithic/Bronze Age flakes; Roman, medieval and medieval/post-medieval pottery sherds; undated oyster shell fragments; undated lead casting waste; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval jettons; post-medieval tokens and a range of other, Late Iron Age/Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Late Iron Age/Roman knobbed terret; a Roman lead steelyard weight; an Early Saxon brooch and buckle; a Middle/Late Saxon strap-end; a Late Saxon to post-medieval lead weight; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval sword-scabbard chape, lead weight and lead pot mends; a medieval/post-medieval coin weight, copper alloy vessel fragments and lead weights and post-medieval harness mounts, a sword-belt fitting, crotal bell, book clasp, furniture escutcheon plate, thimble, toy cannon, pocket sundial fragment, silver vervel, copper alloy seal matrix, lead weight and lead cloth seals.
