Summary

A group of World War Two defences and a slit trench are visible on aerial photographs on Lowestoft Road, Gorleston-on-Sea. These defences may form part of the perimeter defences to the heavy anti-aircraft battery to the immediate north (NHER 32668). They would have also been part of the general invasion defences which surround Great Yarmouth. The Lowestoft Road also represents one of the main routes south from Great Yarmouth and therefore would have been a defended line.

A group of World War Two defences and slit trench are visible on aerial photographs on Lowestoft Road, Gorleston-on-Sea (S1)-(S2). The site is centred on TG 5210 0189.

At TG 5207 0188 is a small square concrete structure, 4.5m. This is presumably a gun emplacement or possible a type 20 pillbox. A slit trench runs along the edge of the opposite road from TG 5213 0193 to TG 5212 0190. The northern end of this trench has been widened into a weapons pit or similar feature.
