Full Description
October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Group of linear ditches of unknown date, visible on an NLA oblique aerial photograph from 1977 (S1). The aerial photograph lacked sufficient control for the rectification to be given any great degree of accuracy, however, the cropmarks should be in generally the right position. A ditch, 300m, runs from TG 0898 4144 to TG 0881 4120. This is crossed at its northern end by a shorter stretch of ditch, 67.5m, running from TG 0897 4144 to TF 0899 4138. Both the ditches vary in width from 1.5m to 3m. To the south of the intersection of these two features are a pair of parallel ditches, running from TG 0897 4138 to TG 0895 4135. These may form part of a trackway up to 44m long, as visible. The ditches are up to 8m apart. To the west is another linear ditch running from TG 0880 4237 to TG 0887 4135, measuring 68m long. The date is these features are unknown and they may represent several phases of activity.
S. Massey (NMP), 12 February 2003.
